The Lodwar County Referral Hospital (LCRH) board of trustees has confirmed receipt of a new consignment of essential medicines worth Sh29 million that will last the facility the next six months.
Nancy Kinyonge, the Director and acting CEO at LCRH, confirmed they have received essential pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceuticals, including reagents for the laboratory and Renal Unit as well as antibiotics, painkillers, and IV fluids among others.
As part of the ongoing digital automation at LCRH, the acting CEO also handed over 19 desktops to 15 departments in a bid to digitize medical services towards improving service delivery.
All the drug consignments received today were fed into the system, and the dispensing of drugs will also be done through the system moving forward.
The director also revealed that the digitization will ensure the safety of drug commodities, enhance Social Health Authority registration, improve data management, foster accountability, and refine diagnostic services at the hospital.
This follows the installation of additional CCTV cameras at the facility and the ongoing internet connectivity in the hospital to aid the digital automation services. The hospital has also installed a biometric staff registration system.
