Early Christmas for 1500 orphans in Machakos

Some 1500 orphans from 29 children’s homes in Machakos County celebrated an early Christmas party at the Machakos people’s park.

They were hosted by the county governor, Wavinya Ndeti and the Department of Tourism and Culture.

Speaking during the children’s party at the people’s park in Machakos, Wavinya assured the orphans that they were in safe hands and as their ‘mother’ and governor, she would ensure they enjoyed their childhood and have quality education.

“I firmly believe that education is the fundamental right of every child and my government is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the children achieve their life aspirations,” she said.

The urged them to work harder in school, remain focused, and improve on their grades for a bright future.

Wavinya, who danced and played with the youngsters, said that all children must live in an environment of care, love and affection

She also hailed the children’s guardians, sponsors, and partners who contributed to the success of the Christmas party.
