Education Principal Secretary Dr. Belio Kipsang has assured Kenyans of the government’s preparedness in the roll out of the new curriculum.
Kipsang said the government has trained teachers and distributed enough teaching materials in all public schools across the country.
The PS said so far the government has released more than 12 million books covering English, Kiswahili and literacy skills.
“For literacy activities, we have released eight million books, and an additional 4.5 million books for other numerous learning activities,” he said.
The PS added that the government is currently working on supplying of learning materials for environment, hygiene and religious education activities.
He lauded the new curriculum, saying its learner friendly. “The new education system is good for nurturing our children,” said Kipsang.
The PS speaking Tuesday during monitoring of roll out of the programme at Kieleleeni primary school, in Mbooni East Sub County also allayed fears on prior consultation for the programme saying relevant stakeholders were involved.
Kipsang warned schools against ordering parents to purchase multiple books per subject from different publishers saying the move will burden parents.
