Governor allays fear of Huduma Namba

Embu County Governor Martin Wambora has allayed fear associated with taking Huduma Namba, saying the purpose of the number is to simplify government service delivery to the citizens.
While addressing the press after registering for the number, Wambora said Huduma Namba is intended to reduce the number of documents an individual holds to a single document which will be used to access government services.
“The move by the government for the Huduma Namba is important for it is aimed at enhancing effective and fast government services delivery to its citizens,” he said urging Embu residents to turn out in large number to register.
Separately, Wambora said his government is taking necessary steps to ensure the areas in Embu hit by the biting hunger were considered for food relief, noting that about 100, 000 residents in the county were in dire need of relief food.
“We have consulted Mwangi Kiunjuri, Cabinet Secretary in charge of Ministry of Agriculture for supply of relief food to lower region of Embu, Mbeere North and South.
In a week’s time, we shall receive 1,000 bags of maize, 400 bags of beans and 60 cartons of cooking oil for those mostly affected by hunger in Mbeere,” he added.
He further said his government was still pursuing construction of four dams in the county as one of the measure of cushioning the county from the frequent hunger.
He said the scandal at Kimwarer and Arror dams in Elgeyo Marakwet has regrettably stalled projects lined up by the government, adding that the scandal has halted the construction of other dams including the four dams, Thuci, Thambana, Rupingazi, and Kamumu dams which have been tendered for but were suspended.
“We are consulting the national treasury order to speed up the process of jump starting the construction of the dams, adding that two companies, a Belgium and a Portugal have shown interest in constructing the dams without charging anything,” he noted.
Apart from the four dams, Wambora also said his government is in the process of constructing water pans and earth dams in dry areas to boost water conservation for irrigation.
