Former National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Deputy Chairperson and former Vihiga County Woman Representative Dorcas Kedogo has commended the ongoing transformation at Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital (VTRH), describing the changes as a major step towards improving healthcare delivery in the region.
Kedogo made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the facility on Tuesday, where she toured various departments and observed improvements in infrastructure, healthcare services and adoption of modern medical technologies aimed at enhancing patient care.
She interacted with hospital staff and received updates on initiatives being implemented to provide accessible, quality and patient-centred healthcare services to residents of Vihiga County and neighbouring areas.
Speaking after the tour, Kedogo described VTRH as “the Home of Healing,” praising the hospital management and employees for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to improving service delivery.
She said the visible developments at the facility demonstrate the institution’s determination to respond to the growing demand for specialized healthcare services.
Kedogo noted that continued investment in medical equipment, infrastructure expansion and specialized treatment has strengthened the hospital’s position as one of the rapidly growing referral facilities in the region.
She encouraged the hospital leadership to maintain the momentum by upholding high standards of service delivery and embracing innovations that improve patient outcomes.
VTRH Medical Superintendent Dr. Collins Masika, who received Kedogo alongside Hospital Administrator Clement Aderi, said the facility remains committed to strengthening healthcare services through investments in infrastructure, specialized care, human resource development and modern medical technology.
Dr. Masika said the transformation agenda is focused on improving efficiency, expanding access to quality healthcare and enhancing patient satisfaction.
He added that the hospital continues to implement measures aimed at making VTRH a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery.
The hospital management thanked Kedogo for visiting the facility and acknowledging the progress achieved, saying her recognition and encouragement would motivate staff to continue improving services for patients.
