The Department for Urban Areas and Municipalities, working alongside the Department of Public Works, has carried out a joint site inspection of the ongoing Phase I Lodwar Municipality Beautification Project, with officials confirming the works are now 90 per cent complete.
The inspection team, led by Chief Officer Public Works, Winstone Ebei, toured the Lodwar Prison Roundabout and other sections of the town to assess construction progress, the quality of workmanship, and compliance with approved project specifications.
The project covers the beautification of the Lodwar Prison Roundabout, the construction of five public shades fitted with benches, tree planting, and the installation of protective tree guards. It was designed to run over a six-month implementation period.
Following the inspection, the team directed the contractor to reinforce the metallic protective rings, strengthen the main wall shades and partitioning, improve overall finishing work, and expedite the installation of electricity to ensure timely completion.
Officials also stressed the need to adhere strictly to the revised implementation schedule to guarantee the project is completed and formally handed over within the agreed timelines.
In addition, Ebei directed the contractor to submit a formal commitment letter, setting out a revised work plan, including clear timelines for practical completion and project handover.
