Residents of Migori County have welcomed President William Ruto’s Meet the People and Development tour in the Nyanza Region.
They said that the development projects done by President William Ruto in the region will enable him to get the necessary support as he seeks reelection.
Kennedy Nyambok, a resident of Nyatike Sub-county, pointed out that the Migori County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP), developed jointly by the National and County governments, will create employment and self-development opportunities for the county residents.
The residents said that the massive projects, including affordable housing, road construction, water, and stadiums, among others, are some of the notable projects that have been accomplished by President Ruto in Migori County.
According to the Government Delivery Unit that visited Migori County early this month, Migori had 14 road projects totaling 202 kilometers that were under construction to bitumen standards, costing 8.5 billion, and 42 projects under the Housing Project (affordable housing, markets, and institution houses) worth 12 billion.
Other notable projects under President Ruto include the rehabilitation and renovation of the Lichota Airstrip, the completion of the Awendo-Masaba Power transmission line, and the Lower Kuja Irrigation Scheme in Nyatike.
Argwens Otieno, a resident of Uriri Sub-county, however, urged the president to ensure the closed Migori Bridge is reconstructed to ease the traffic pressure along the Migori-Kisii highway.
The Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) closed the bridge in February this year after the bridge’s structural integrity was compromised by the rising water levels of River Migori.
President Ruto is expected to visit Migori County on Wednesday, 16, 2026, where he is expected to inspect various projects being done by the government.
