More households in Emulusio Village, Kisa Central Ward, Khwisero sub-county, Kakamega county are set to be connected to electricity under the ongoing Last-Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme, a move expected to boost economic activities and improve livelihoods in the area.
Speaking after inspecting the project Friday, Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka said the initiative would expand access to electricity for homes, schools and small businesses while supporting the constituency’s development agenda.
The legislator said the electricity project forms part of broader infrastructure investments being implemented by the National Government to spur socio-economic growth in the area.
Aseka said construction of the Khwisero Level IV Hospital, Khwisero ESP Market, Affordable Housing Project, 340-bed hostels at Khwisero Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) and the KVTC Mechanical Workshop was progressing as planned.
He added that the KVTC Jitume ICT Hub was already operational, while the Ekambuli Health Centre Maternity Wing had improved access to maternal healthcare services.
The MP further said the planned upgrading of the Lunza–Khukolomani, Manyulia–Dudi and Khwisero–Eshibinga roads to bitumen standards would enhance transport, facilitate trade and improve access to public services.
He urged residents to continue participating in public forums to help identify priority development needs and ensure government projects respond to community expectations.
Residents expressed optimism that the projects would accelerate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve access to essential services across the constituency.
