MU Technologies seeks partnership with IEBC for better solutions

The MU Technologies Digital Assembly Plant based in Eldoret City has expressed readiness to support the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the production of various devices to be used to capture data during the 2027 General Election.

The project manager for MU Technologies Philip Kipkoech and the factory engineer Joel Mosonic have invited the IEBC team to visit the plant to have an engagement and see the facility and quality of personnel and the equipment available saying they had the capacity and capability to produce devices that will be required by IEBC to conduct the elections.

They said they had successfully assembled different kinds of digital device including Tablets, Laptops, desktops, and smart metres, all of which meet needs of different government entities enabling them to send data directly to the server. Eng. Mosonic noted that the plant can assemble 1250 tablets and 700 desktops per day.

The plant which is an innovation and technology arm of Moi University has been assembling devices needed by the Government for the JITUME initiative, aimed at ensuring youth acquire digital skills and exploit opportunities available online.

“We are open to discussions with government institutions. We are open to discussions with government MDAs. Our facility is quite versatile, we can assemble all kinds of devices,” he said.

The duo added that currently the plant is assembling various kinds of devices and installing specialized software that can be used by SMEs and desktops that can be used by various organizations through partnerships with foreign companies that supply them with components used to assemble devices also known as Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly devices.

“So our idea is to come up with innovative solutions to different problems that different institutions have. We are also working with students from Moi University who have innovative ideas in the digital space so that we can help them market their devices to the larger market,” noted Eng. Mosonic.
