Nakuru Bucks win derby as Kiminini combined secure NSL promotion

Afraha Stadium erupted in excitement as football fans from across Nakuru County turned up in large numbers to witness a thrilling FKF Division One Nakuru derby between Nakuru Bucks FC and St Joseph’s FC.

The entertaining encounter showcased impressive talent, determination, and sportsmanship from both sides, keeping supporters engaged throughout the match.

Nakuru Bucks FC emerged dominant with a convincing 3-0 victory in a match that underlined the growing football talent within the county. The hosts took an early lead after an own goal by Elisha Nalianya handed Bucks the advantage in the opening stages of the derby.

Creative midfielder Kelvin Kariuki delivered an outstanding performance and doubled the lead just before halftime, sending fans into wild celebrations.

Substitute Gilbert Mogaka sealed the emphatic win with a classy finish in the 86th minute, ensuring Bucks claimed bragging rights in the Nakuru City derby.

The victory lifted Nakuru Bucks to sixth position on the FKF Division One table with 25 points, five ahead of St Joseph’s FC, who remain in 11th place.

Beyond the action on the pitch, the match served as a symbol of unity and togetherness as hundreds of football lovers gathered to celebrate local talent and the spirit of sportsmanship.

The event was attended by Nakuru County Chief Officer for Youths, Sports and Talent Francis Njoroge and Nakuru City Manager Gitau Thabanja, who joined fans in supporting youth talent development through sports.

Meanwhile, league leaders Kiminini Combined confirmed promotion to the National Super League after Gregory Agesa scored a brace in a crucial top-of-the-table clash, taking the Kitale-based side to 59 points.
