Interfaith Council in Nyandarua County has called for peaceful campaigns and subsequent voting in the coming by-election for the Ol-Kalou Parliamentary seat.
As both UDA and DCP Parties get set for the party primaries respectively, the Interfaith Council wants leaders and local residents to embrace and observe peaceful nominations.
Led by their Chairman Archbishop Josam Kariuki, Secretary Fr. James Nduati and their Muslim counterpart Sheik Salim Mohamed, the Interfaith Council said that lack of peace will interfere with businesses in the Constituency.
They also noted that lack of peace during nominations and by- election normal routines of the residents will be affected hence urged the residents of Ol-Kalou to maintain peace because without it, there will be no development.
Speaking to the Media after a closed door meeting in Ol-Kalou town, the religious leaders also urged the security agencies in the county to be on the lookout and secure all the polling stations on time.
The council at the same time want parties to be impartial during the party primaries and ensure peaceful by-election campaigns in order to be fair to all candidates and their members.
The Ol-Kalou Parliamentary seat was left vacant following the demise of David Njuguna Kiaraho who succumbed to illness early last month.
