Cabinet secretary for finance John Mbadi has urged the Luo community to firmly remain in the broad-based government even though its lead architect, the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga is no more.
The CS said it is important for the community to learn to live without the great icon and strategize on their political maneuvers for the future.
“We must strategize, we must be tactful, we must form alliances that make sense,” the CS said.
He said, “as a people we cannot afford to keep away from the broad-based government. “ When we assure the president, we are with him, we can’t keep saying we are with him till 2027. After 2027 where are we going?” he posed.
“It’s either we work with that united opposition or we remain behind president William Ruto, we give him a second term as we plan for 2032, that is the only way to go,” he said.
The CS said this is the time for the ODM party to prepare for 2032 General Election and work with other communities.
“We cannot work with people who conned us previously; we can only work with people who have demonstrated that they can work with us,” he said.
The CS argued that there is no candidate who will outdo President Ruto in 2027 adding he believed the people have already decided who their president will be in 2027.
The CS was speaking on Friday during a fundraiser at Adega secondary school in Kabondo Kasipul constituency Homa Bay County where he helped to raise Sh5 million for six women groups.
