The County Government of Nyeri has announced more than 140 job vacancies on permanent and pensionable terms across its departments.
According to an advertisement published by the Nyeri County Public Service Board on Tuesday, the vacancies are targeting professionals in the medical, finance and agriculture sectors.
The Department of Medical Services and Public Health accounts for the largest share of the vacancies where the county is seeking to recruit 145 qualified professionals.
The county says it is looking to hire a total of 59 registered nurses under Job Group H, seven medical lab technologists, seven assistant public health officers and five nursing officers who will be deployed in the county’s health facilities.
Other slots include a vacant post for a pathologist in Job Group Q, three registered anaesthetists in Job Group K, four medical officers under Job Group M, a dental officer under Job Group M and two orthopaedic officers under Job Group H.
The announcement comes exactly one week after the county boss, Dr. Mutahi Kahiga, revealed that the county would be hiring additional medical personnel to support healthcare provision in the county.
Speaking when he presided over the induction ceremony of the seventh cohort of interns who will serve in the various county departments for the next year, Dr. Kahiga said that the recruitment was targeting to hire medical personnel in different cadres.
“We are going to hire more than 137 medical personnel in the next two to three weeks. If you qualify and if you meet the requirements, apply and you will be hired,” he said.
The recruitment drive is also targeting to hire two accountants for the Department of Finance and Economic planning and an agricultural inspector and a plant mechanic who will work in the county’s Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Aquaculture.
Interested candidates have been urged to visit the county website www.nyeri.go.ke for a full description of the vacancies, the requirements and application guidelines. The Board has also cautioned applicants against paying bribes to secure employment noting that employment will be merit based.
“The County Public Service Board does not charge for any of the recruitment exercises, including shortlisting and appointments. Any request for payment or favours should therefore be reported to the police for appropriate action,” says the advertisement.
The Board has also noted that the salaries will be set according to Salaries and Remuneration Commission guidelines.
Eligible candidates have been asked to fill the employment form and attach copies of their academic and professional certificates and testimonials which should be delivered to the Board offices on or before September 29.
