Interior and National Administration PS Dr. Raymond Omollo, has urged the clergy to deny pulpit leaders who use public forums to divide Kenyans.
Speaking in Chiga Sub location in Homa Bay Town Constituency, Omollo said places of worship should remain platforms for unity and peace building and not incitement and hate speech.
“The church is a house of God. Do not give the podium to leaders who only talk of things that bring division among Kenyans,” Dr. Omollo said as he called on the locals to use the pulpit to preach peace, cohesion, and development.
He at the same time advised residents to embrace government social programs, urging them to register for the Social Health Authority, SHA, to access healthcare.
“SHA is for all of us. I urge you to register today so that when you fall sick, you do not have to sell land or borrow to get treatment,” he said.
The call was echoed by Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, who said SHA registration drives will be intensified in Nyanza to ensure no household is left behind.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga said the Orange Democratic Movement party supports President William Ruto’s reelection during next year’s Presidential election.
“ODM believes in working with the government of the day for the benefit of Kenyans. We will support President Ruto for a second term so that development projects can continue,” Wanga said.
Other local leaders and clergy welcomed Omollo’s sentiments saying the church must lead in preaching tolerance ahead of 2027 elections.
