‎Little Known St. Thomas Aquinas Igumori shines in KCSE

‎It was song and dance at Little known St. Thomas Aquinas Igumori Secondary School in Mbeere South Constituency, Embu, after the school posted exemplary results with a mean grade of 7.6083 to emerge second best school in the area after Joseph Alamano Wachoro that scored a mean of 7.6087.

‎ Collins Nyaga emerged top candidate in the mixed day and boarding school with an A-(minus) grade of 76 points followed by Peter Mugendi with B+ (plus).

‎ The school also managed to set a new record of the highest number of students who attained university entry grade of C+ with 105 candidates making the cut.

‎ School Principal Patrick Mwaniki said the school had recorded tremendous improvement compared to last year where it had posted a mean grade of 6.5. He attributed the sterling performance to hard work and good cooperation between learners and teachers.

‎ He also said they always endeavor to complete the syllabus early enough to give students ample time to revise saying the initiative has also contributed to the good performance.

‎ Collins, the top student expressed joy with his performance that he said will enable him achieve his childhood dream of becoming a medical doctor.

‎ It was however, not a walk in the park for him as he had to drop out of his school of choice upon completion of KCSE for lack of fees and move to the day school that his grandfather could manage.

‎ ” I had been admitted to Nyangwa Boys High School but along the way, I was forced to discontinue due to my parents’ inability to pay my school fees,” he said.

‎ He said he joined Igumori at form three as a day scholar until the school board of management decided to help him become a boarder after noticing his dedication to education.

‎ “As a day scholar it was difficult to get ample time to study at home due to household chores and I thank the school management for seeing it fit to support me become a boarder,” he stressed.
