Sabatia residents urged to register as voters

Sabatia Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner, Festus Munyao, has urged residents to turn out in large numbers and register as voters in order to actively participate in the democratic process and choose their preferred leaders.

The Deputy County Commissioner noted that voter registration teams have been deployed across all wards, with at least three officers assigned to facilitate the exercise.

He encouraged residents to visit registration centres, schools, and households, to ensure more eligible voters are captured.

“As of this morning, only 30 per cent of residents have registered as voters,” he said, calling for increased mobilisation to boost the numbers ahead of future elections.

He was speaking at Tsimbalo Grounds during a bursary issuance ceremony presided over by Sabatia Member of Parliament (MP) Clement Sloya, where students from the Sub-county benefitted from educational support.

During the event, the MP disbursed bursary funds amounting to Sh32 million to support learners across Sabatia Sub-county.

He urged residents to register as voters and continue praying for their leaders to deliver development.

The Legislator also condemned the incident reported in Kisumu involving an attack on Vihiga Senator, Godfrey Otsosi, calling for respect and tolerance among leaders and members of the public.
