Siaya Deputy Governor to contest against Orengo in 2027

By P, KNA

Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has declared his intention to challenge his boss, James Orengo for the Siaya gubernatorial race in 2027.

Making the announcement during an interdenominational service at his Hawinga village home in West Alego, Oduol who has not been in good terms with Orengo for most of the current term, said he will seek the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.

“I am presenting myself for nominations for the ODM ticket,” he said adding that he has been forced to seek the governorship due to the poor state of affairs in the devolved unit.

He said that though the current governor, Orengo rode to the office using a manifesto that he (Oduol) developed, the senior counsel’s administration gave the document a wide berth upon taking leadership.

The deputy governor, who survived impeachment by the Siaya county assembly in 2023, said he will be seeking to actualize the “Siaya dream” as contained in the manifesto that seeks to make the county great.

He called on Siaya residents to rally behind his vision and support his candidature.
