Two Arrested for Impersonating Census Trainees

Police in Migori County Thursday arrested two people suspected to have been impersonating census trainees at a Migori hotel.

Addressing the press in his office, Migori Police Commander Joseph Nthenge said the two Onyango Victor Ochieng and Polycarp Mboya Ndege allegedly presented themselves as census trainees at a training held in Migori town.

The police boss said Ochieng impersonated his cousin Joseph Ogolla Ochieng who had been shortlisted for the job but never turned up as he had got another job in Meru County.

He said Victor went with his cousin’s identification card and wrote his cousin’s name from Monday on the registration list but was found to have written his real name today something that raised eyebrows from the organisers of the training.

And on the same day, Polycarp Mboya Ndege intruded into the training without identifying himself to the officials and the county census committee members despite missing out on the final list.

“He went on with the trainings until today when he was asked for his clearance from the committee only to be found not to be on the final list submitted to the trainers,” explained the county police boss.

The two are held in custody at the Migori police station awaiting to be arraigned in Court Friday.
