Vihiga County Distributes Medical Supplies to Hospitals

Vihiga county government has sent drugs and non-pharmaceuticals worth Sh38 million to all the public health facilities in the area.

Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has said the stocks would enable the health personnel to attend to the patients suffering from various conditions appropriately.

Dr Otticho stated that his administration has prioritized health care for the people and they will continue investing heavily in the health sector for the benefit of the residents.

The governor lauded the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) for establishing a regional centre in Kisumu, which will serve the larger Nyanza and western counties.

“The opening of the KEMSA centre in Kisumu will significantly boost the accessibility to the essential supplies for the devolved units within the targeted catchment area,” he said.

He cautioned the health workers against stealing or hoarding the medicines warning that those found doing so would be punished in accordance with the rules set out in the professional code of conduct.
