Youth in Turkana have been urged to make use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hubs in Lodwar to enhance their skills and tap into opportunities in the digital economy.
Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyanga made the appeal during a tour of ICT hubs in Lodwar, where he was accompanied by officials from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Nyanga said the County Government will work closely with UNICEF through the Directorate of Vocational Training to address challenges affecting the smooth operation of the ICT hubs.
He encouraged ICT hub operators to benchmark with successful service providers locally and internationally to improve the quality of services offered.
The visit brought together officials from UNICEF and the county government, including Directorate of Vocational Training Director Stephen Eregae, his deputy Jeremiah Loyapan, and representatives from ICT, ECDE, partnerships, and vocational training centres.
