‎‎EWASCO warns staff against engaging in fraudulent dealings

‎The Management of Embu Water and Sanitation Company (EWASCO) has warned its staff against engaging in fraudulent dealings.

This follows recent reports of one of them being implicated in a job scam and fraudulent water bill waivers.

The Company Managing Director Eng. James Njue confirmed that they had received reports of one staffer who was involved in a recruitment scam and fraudulent water bill waivers. The officer is said to have been soliciting money from job seekers promising to secure employment for them.

He reported that the said officer had resigned ahead of disciplinary action but maintained that the move would not shield him from consequences as they had forwarded the matter to the police.

Speaking to the media at the company’s offices in Embu Town on Wednesday morning, the MD issued a stern warning to employees of the company that such acts will not be tolerated.

“Any employee found engaging in these fraudulent syndicates will be dismissed forthwith and also face criminal prosecution to protect the integrity of the company,” he warned.

Njue also cautioned members of the public against falling prey to the recruitment and bill waivers scams involving the name of the company.

He maintained that the institution’s recruitment is free and no money should be paid for interviews or placement.

The MD emphasized that all vacancies at the company are publicly advertised and that recruitment follows a transparent process in shortlisting, interviews, and selection based on merit.

“As the Managing Director of EWASCO, I want to reiterate that we do not charge even a shilling to give people jobs. If anyone approaches you claiming to be an employee and asks for money in exchange for employment, report them immediately,” he said.

He clarified that the company currently has no open job vacancies but assured the public that any future opportunities would be advertised through the proper channels.

At the same time, Njue urged customers not to pay bribes when seeking assistance with water-related services such as billing disputes, account issues, water reconnections, or shortages.

“If you have any challenge with your water bill, account, reconnection, or water supply, report it directly to EWASCO and we will assist you. Do not pay anyone to have bills adjusted, services restored, or any other issue resolved,” he said.

Njue reaffirmed the company’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and customer service, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of fraud to the relevant authorities.
