Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has urged newly appointed Chief Officers to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their duties, as they take up leadership positions in the county government.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the county headquarters in Narok, Ntutu said the officers had been entrusted with the responsibility of strengthening service delivery and implementing the county government’s development agenda across their respective departments.
The Governor challenged the officers to work diligently and ensure residents receive quality services, noting that the success of county programmes depended on effective leadership, commitment and responsiveness from public officers.
He congratulated the officers on their appointment and assured them of his administration’s support as they undertake their new responsibilities.
The newly sworn-in Chief Officers included Abigael Shoiyian Kataka (Devolution and Public Administration), Mr Douglas Pashet Nkere (Roads), Dalton Kayiok Kipas (Preventive and Promotive Health Services), Simon Mukwe Sopia (Livestock Production), Sahara Ibrahim Adan (Fisheries), Emily Naanyu Sena (Youth Affairs, Gender and Sports) and Susan Wangui Tamooh (Housing).
The County boss also appealed for peace ahead of the planned June 25 demonstrations, saying Narok remains a peaceful county and this should not be disrupted by unrest.
He noted that the county is currently receiving large numbers of tourists heading to the Maasai Mara National Reserve and emphasized the need to protect lives, businesses and the tourism sector.
The governor expressed sympathy to families who lost their loved ones during previous demonstrations, but cautioned that protests often turn violent, resulting in destruction of property, injuries and loss of life.
He urged residents, particularly the youth, to maintain peace and allow farmers, traders and other wananchi to continue with their daily activities without interruption.
His deputy, Tamalinye Koech congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to embrace teamwork, transparency and accountability while executing their duties.
Koech expressed confidence that the officers would significantly contribute towards improving service delivery and the welfare of residents.
County Assembly Majority Leader Sonkoi Lemein on his part also congratulated the officers and called on them to work closely with both the county executive and the Assembly to enhance development and improve service delivery across the county.
The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant step in strengthening the county’s administrative leadership as the new Chief Officers assume their responsibilities in various departments.
