Security within Kaimosi Friends University has been enhanced through the installation of high-mast floodlights.
The initiative commissioned by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mwita, also attended by local leadership including Hamisi Member of Parliament Dr. Charles Gimose is expected to significantly improve visibility and security within and around the institution.
Speaking during the event, Prof. Mwita lauded the area MP for supporting a project that directly addresses the security needs of both the university and neighbouring residents.
He said the installation of the high-mast floodlight was a timely intervention that would greatly enhance safety across the campus and its environs while creating a conducive environment for learning, innovation and business activities.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the facility would also support student entrepreneurship by enabling learners to extend their activities safely, particularly at the university’s upcoming modern Students’ Centre.

“With improved lighting, students will be able to conduct their activities for longer hours in a secure environment while ensuring safety for all those accessing the university,” said Prof. Mwita.
On his part, Dr. Gimose reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education and improving the welfare of students within Hamisi Constituency.
He said providing a safe and secure learning environment remained a priority, adding that the project forms part of broader efforts aimed at investing in education and empowering young people.
The MP further emphasized the importance of partnerships in promoting development, saying his office would continue collaborating with the university to implement projects that enhance student experiences and benefit the surrounding community.
The initiative was welcomed by the student leadership, with their President Kennedy Juma expressing gratitude to the constituency leadership for prioritizing student welfare.
Juma noted that the floodlights would improve security and facilitate easier movement for students and residents, especially during evening hours.
The university management reiterated their appreciation for the continued partnership with Hamisi Constituency leadership noting that such collaborations play a crucial role in advancing development projects that enhance students’ wellbeing and strengthen relations between the institution and the community.
