Ochunyno clinch cluster football title after hard-fought victory

Ochunyno Junior Secondary School were crowned champions after edging out Simbiri Junior Secondary School 1-0 in the cluster-level football finals held at Kosele Stadium in Rachuonyo South Sub- County.

The closely contested match saw both teams create scoring opportunities in the opening stages but fail to convert. Ochunyno eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when team captain Alex Ochieng calmly converted a penalty to give his side a crucial lead heading into the break.

Simbiri returned for the second half determined to find an equaliser and launched several attacks against the Ochunyno defence. However, Ochunyno remained organized at the back and successfully repelled every attempt to preserve their advantage.

The final whistle sparked celebrations among Ochunyno players, teachers and supporters as the team secured the title and qualification for the upcoming zonal games.

“The boys followed the game plan well and showed great character. Winning the final is a reward for their hard work and commitment during training. We are proud of this achievement and now look forward to the zonal competitions,” said Ouma.

He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform well at the next level, noting that the players are motivated and ready to showcase their talent in the zonal games.
