Leaders have called for unity, transparency and improved service delivery following the installation of a new Assistant Chief for Embali Sub-location in Emuhaya Constituency, Vihiga County.
Charles Sande Asembo was officially installed during a ceremony held at Emwatsi Baptist Church on Wednesday, attended by Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Monica Ithatwa, Assistant County Commissioner for Luanda Barnabas Kipsat, chiefs, assistant chiefs, church leaders, local leaders and residents.
Speaking during the ceremony, Ithatwa congratulated the new administrator and said assistant chiefs play a critical role in linking the government with citizens at the grassroots.
She urged Asembo to uphold transparency, accountability and fairness while discharging his duties, noting that the position demands commitment, integrity and a clear understanding of the needs of the community.
The DCC emphasized that maintaining peace and security remains a key responsibility of National Government Administration Officers and urged the new Assistant Chief to work closely with security agencies, community leaders and residents to prevent crime and resolve disputes amicably.
She also encouraged residents to cooperate with government administrators by sharing information on security matters and participating in government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.
Asembo thanked the government for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving the people of Embali Sub-location and pledged to uphold professionalism and treat all residents equally.
He said he would prioritise peace, security and community engagement through an open-door policy that would allow residents to freely raise their concerns and seek assistance.
The new Assistant Chief appealed to residents to support his administration, saying effective leadership can only be achieved through cooperation between government officers and the community.
West Bunyore ward Member of County Assembly Wimsy Manoah Osore congratulated the new Assistant Chief and called for close collaboration between residents, National Government administrators and elected leaders to address the needs of the community.
He also commended the outgoing Assistant Chief, Joyce Amaheno, for her dedicated service and wished her well in retirement.
In her farewell remarks, Amaheno thanked the government and the people of Embali Sub-location for the support they accorded her during her tenure.
She urged residents to extend similar cooperation to her successor, noting that effective leadership depends on unity between administrators and the public.
