Youngsters, Falcon FC win Tyno Rotino Riwo Tournament

Youngsters are the official winners of the Tyno Rotino Riwo Ward Tournament 2025 after beating Kanyarkwat FC 1-0 in a tantalising and highly contested tournament final.

The finals were held last Sunday at Kong’elai Primary School Grounds in Kapenguria constituency, West Pokot Sub County.

In the female category, Falcon FC were declared winners after thrashing Komesi FC 4-1. All goals were scored in normal time.

The winners walked away with Sh20,000 and football jerseys as the second and third winners pocketed Sh15,000 and Sh10,000 and jerseys respectively.

Addressing the media, the Tournament Patron Tyno Rotino hailed those who participated, urging youth to take advantage of such tournaments to evade drug abuse and criminal activities.

“We celebrate the thrilling conclusion of the Tyno Rotino Riwo Ward Tournament, where Youngsters FC (men) and Falcon FC (women) emerged victorious after beating strong opponents,” Rotino said.

“Both teams showcased outstanding talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making the final a true testament to the spirit of football in Riwo Ward.

Thank you to all players, coaches, fans, and organisers who made this tournament a resounding success. Together, we continue to nurture the future of football in our County,” said Rotino.

A total of 78 teams across Riwo Ward participated in the tournament but only four made it to the finals.

The tournament, themed ‘Youth for Change’, was set to engage young schoolgoing boys and girls, especially during the school holiday season, when many youth are always at risk of being swayed towards  irresponsible behaviours such as drug abuse and crime.

Dr Naomi Kendagor, a USA based Kenyan philanthropist who had visited the country to join her community for the Christmas period and attended the tournament finals, applauded all participants, urging parents to take full responsibility for nurturing their children’s talents.

She promised goodies to young people who take part in community activities such as sports.
