The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has been urged to crack down on politicians spewing hate speech and incitement as the country heads into the General Election.
Speaking during the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) grassroots sensitization forum at a hotel in Bobasi Constituency, the former area Member of Parliament Stephen Manoti said that political leaders should be cautious of the language they use to woo voters in political rallies.
Manoti noted that remarks by some of the leaders from the United Opposition during the three-day tour in Gusii region were unacceptable and aimed at fostering division among the communities.
The former Member of Parliament said that politicians are elected by the citizens to represent them at various levels and ought to be upheld in the highest standards of respect and accountability.
He added that multi-partism had expanded the democratic space for civic engagement, noting that every individual or political party is free to sell their agenda to the people of Bobasi and beyond.
Manoti also drummed up support for President William Ruto and urged Kenyans to consider voting him for the second term so that he can complete the development projects he had initiated.
