A body found lying in a pool of blood inside a Probox

Residents of  Wiga Village, Kalanya Kanyango Sub Location of Homa Bay County woke up to a rude shock after finding a body of a middle aged man in a pool of blood.

According to the area Assistant, Chief  Andrew Okatch, a night security guard who was passing by after work spotted a lone Probox in a thicket near Ogande Bridge and drew near.

Upon reaching the Probox, the Security guard noticed a body inside the boot of the Probox lying in a pool of blood which prompted him to notify the Assistant Chief.

Okatch said that the body was found naked with physical injuries on the head while his eyes were gouged out and a stone inside the car with blood stains suspected to have been used in killing the deceased.

The administrator said that the suspected assailants did not escape with keys of the vehicle but left everything intact inside it, saying that in the year 2014, another body was found dumped at the same scene.

On their part, residents led by Margret Obola (75) and Joseph Ogola expressed concerns over increasing cases of insecurity in the area and called on government to establish a police post to fight the vice in the region.

Confirming the incident to KNA, the  Homa Bay County Police Commander, Esther Seroney said that the deceased was suspected to have been murdered elsewhere before being ferried to Wiga Village.

Seroney added that the police officers found a small bag in the vehicle containing ATM card, voters Card and court documents believed to belong to the deceased.

She said that the investigation is still underway to apprehend the suspects and called on members of the public with any relevant information on the incident to confide it to security officers.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Homa Bay county mortuary for postmortem.
