Construction of the Turkana Stadium, pledged by President William Ruto, is set to kickoff anytime at Ekalees Centre in Lodwar.
This follows a site visit by the Ministry of Defence and the project contractor.
Deputy Governor Dr. John Erus hosted the delegation from the Ministry of Defence, which was in the County to assess the site with the contractor.
The visit is expected to pave the way for groundbreaking exercise.
Dr Erus said the stadium would help develop sporting talent among the youth in the county.
“Turkana has great sporting potential, but the lack of a standard stadium has held us back. The county appreciates the President for this project as it gets underway,” he said.
Present during the visit were CECM for Finance Roseline Aite, Deputy County Secretary Joseph Nyang’a, Chief Officers Robert Loyelei (Sports and Vocational Training) and Jane Rose Tioko (Partnerships), Advisor to the Governor Phoebe Kamaan, Director Jackson Nakusa and Director James Nateleng.
