DP Kindiki reaffirms government’s commitment to development projects

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development projects across the country while urging Kenyans to continue supporting President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking during a church service and interdenominational fundraiser at Kapsang African Inland Church (AIC) in Ziwa, Soy Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, the Deputy President said the government remains focused on fulfilling its promises to Kenyans through investments in agriculture, healthcare, housing, infrastructure and social development programmes.

Prof. Kindiki noted that the government’s agricultural reforms had significantly reduced the cost of fertilizer, easing the burden on farmers and enhancing food production across the country.

He acknowledged concerns raised by farmers in Uasin Gishu regarding the availability of top-dressing fertilizer and pledged to engage the relevant ministry to ensure adequate supplies are delivered promptly.

“I have heard the concerns of our farmers regarding top-dressing fertilizer. Upon returning to Nairobi, I will engage the responsible ministry to ensure the fertilizer is distributed without delay so that farmers can maximize their yields,” said Prof. Kindiki.

The DP highlighted several ongoing government projects in the region, including the construction of a major referral hospital in Eldoret, affordable housing projects, road infrastructure and market development initiatives.

Prof. Kindiki stated that the affordable housing programme in Eldoret is expected to provide more than 10,000 housing units, benefiting thousands of families while creating employment opportunities.

He said the government would continue monitoring the implementation of development projects to ensure they are completed on schedule and deliver maximum benefits to wananchi.

On national politics, the Deputy President asserted that the Constitution envisages a two-term presidency to allow an elected leader sufficient time to initiate and complete development programmes.

“The Constitution provides a framework that allows a President to start programmes and complete them. Development projects require time and continuity to achieve their intended impact,” he said.

Turning to the recently concluded parliamentary debate on the national budget and Finance Bill, Prof. Kindiki dismissed claims that the legislation introduced new taxes, saying Parliament had demonstrated that no additional tax burdens had been imposed on Kenyans.

He maintained that government development programmes depend on budgetary allocations and lawful revenue collection mechanisms approved through constitutional processes.

The DP further cautioned against acts of violence and destruction of property during demonstrations, emphasizing that while the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and expression, such freedoms should not infringe on the rights and livelihoods of others.

“Every Kenyan has a constitutional right to express themselves, but no one has the right to destroy property, harm fellow citizens or disrupt businesses. The government will protect both lives and property,” he stated.

Prof. Kindiki assured citizens that security agencies would maintain law and order while safeguarding the rights of all Kenyans, including demonstrators, traders, travelers and other members of the public.

Also present during the function were National Treasury PS Dr. Chris Kiptoo; Governors Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu), Stephen Sang (Nandi), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), and Wisley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet); Jeremiah Lomurkai (Turkana); Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago; MPs David Kiplagat (Soy), Oscar Sudi-Kapseret,  Irene Njoki (Bahati), and Joseph Makilap (Baringo North); Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina; Nyeri Women Rep Rahab Mukami; ward representatives; Uasin Gishu County officials; as well as other church and local leaders.
