Fake keg on sale, warns health officials

Health officials in Nyandarua County have launched a manhunt for unscrupulous traders selling fake beer that have left  revelers  with illnesses.

The  Nyandarua West sub-county Public Health Officer, Ezekiel  Orina  said two people made a report at the Kasuku police post after falling ill on consuming the fake Keg beer.

“The  brew the two drunk had a foul smell and they started complaining of being unwell soon after,” said Orina.

He  said test of contents in other barrels from three other bars showed “it was just water.”

The  officer said people who were distributing the “beer” in a Toyota Probox vehicle fled after noticing public health officers trailing them.

Orina  said police were hunting the people to charge them with selling substandard beer to the people.

The  Public Health Officer warned bar owners to stop buying beer from distributors who were not issuing them with receipts.
