Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has announced plans to recruit 100 additional healthcare workers as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the county.
Governor Achani said the recruitment will help address staffing gaps in health facilities and improve medical services for residents.
Speaking during a public meeting in Matuga Sub-county, the governor said the county government remains committed to ensuring residents receive quality and timely healthcare services.
“The recruitment of more than 100 health workers is aimed at strengthening service delivery in our facilities and reducing the challenges residents face when seeking medical attention,” said Achani.
The governor noted that the county has so far employed more than 1,900 healthcare workers serving in 179 health facilities across Kwale.
She said the county administration will continue investing in the health sector through improved infrastructure and human resources to support the provision of quality healthcare.
During the same engagement, Achani challenged youths in Kwale to register companies to enable them to benefit from business opportunities through county government tenders.
She further encouraged young people to formalize their businesses and position themselves to access procurement opportunities available within the county.
“I urge our youths to register companies so that they can participate in county tenders and create sustainable sources of income. These opportunities are meant to empower them economically,” said Achani.
The governor disclosed that the county government has so far awarded approximately 400 tenders to companies owned by youths, women, and persons with disabilities.
She said the contracts awarded include construction of dispensaries, early childhood development education (ECDE) centers, installation of water pipelines, and construction of county roads.
Achani added that the county government will continue implementing programmes aimed at empowering young people and promoting inclusive economic growth.
The governor called on residents to take advantage of available opportunities in healthcare, entrepreneurship, and other sectors to improve their livelihoods.
