Top government officers have called on Mt. Kenya residents to rally behind the government and ignore opposition propaganda of portraying UDA Administration as a failed regime.
Led by Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, the leaders said President William Ruto’s administration had done a lot in its three years in office in improving the socioeconomic well-being of Kenyans and residents should not be swayed by the empty rhetoric from the opposition.
Speaking in Embu town on Saturday during an engagement forum with residents while marking President Ruto’s three years in office anniversary, Mwaura said there was a lot for the region to take pride with the administration including senior government appointments.
He said the region enjoys a lot of representation in President Ruto’s administration in various plum positions including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Heads of Parastatals and Directors.
He reported that the administration had a clear record of performance since it took over leadership especially in attainment of Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) pillars including health, housing, agriculture, MSME and Digital Superhighway.
He noted health as one of the key successful pillars that has seen the rollout of Social Health Authority (SHA) that had so far disbursed over Sh. 68 billion all over the country.
Additionally, Mwaura said over 107,000 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) had been employed to strength primary healthcare provision at the grassroots.
His sentiments were echoed by Public Health Principal Secretary (PS) Mary Muthoni who underscored the contribution of CHPs especially in referral system at the bottom of the pyramid.
“They are assisting us in blood sugar and pressure testing, reminding expectant mothers to go for prenatal care and those who have given birth to go for postnatal care,” she said.
Mwaura continued that they have been able to root out corruption in health through fraudulent claims to ensure the country’s universal health care lives to its billing of provision of quality and affordable healthcare for all Kenyans.
“What has taken other countries years to achieve in terms of universal health care has taken us three years which had not even been achieved in the previous administration,” he noted.
On housing, the Government Spokesperson said many projects were being done across the country to give Kenyans especially those of low income decent and affordable housing.
Apart from provision of accommodation, Mwaura said the housing project had created over 330,000 jobs for the young people across the country.
On MSME, he said the government was giving loans of up to Sh20 million to those doing value addition thus creating jobs for many.
Hustler Fund, he said, had been able to disburse loans amounting to Sh70 billion above the initial plan of Sh50 billion which has benefitted over 25 million Kenyans.
At the same time, Mwaura defended State House visits by various groups over claims that it had been turned into a common man’s place thus eroding its dignity.
He noted State House was for ‘hustlers ‘going by the Presidential Standard that has a wheelbarrow that is actually the status symbol.
Additionally, Mwaura said economic empowerment programs by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was proof of a government committed to uplift the lives of the downtrodden.
” This is a government for all Kenyans and we want to go around the country speaking to our people to tell them what has been done to bring an end to the misconceptions,” he said.
He exuded confidence that President Ruto will get another term in office given his performance track record.
