Learners at PCEA Mama Ngina Primary School in Kinoo Ward are set to benefit from improved learning facilities following the ongoing construction of a modern nine-classroom block, aimed at addressing congestion and enhancing access to quality education.
The project, which is currently underway, is expected to significantly increase the school’s capacity to accommodate the growing number of learners, while providing a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah said the classroom block forms part of the government’s commitment to strengthening education infrastructure and ensuring that every child has access to a safe and dignified learning environment.
Ichung’wah noted that population growth in Kinoo and the surrounding areas has placed increasing pressure on existing school facilities, making additional classrooms necessary to meet the rising demand for education.
“We are investing in education because it is the foundation of our future. This nine-classroom block will ease congestion, provide a better learning environment for our children and support teachers in delivering quality education,” said the MP.
He added that the national government remains committed to improving public learning institutions through the construction of classrooms and other essential facilities that enhance the quality of education across the constituency.
The legislator said the project is part of a broader effort to expand educational infrastructure in Kikuyu Constituency in response to the increasing enrollment witnessed in public schools over the years.
“Our goal is to ensure that no child is denied an opportunity to learn because of inadequate infrastructure. We will continue investing in schools to match the needs of our growing population and to create an environment where learners can excel academically,” he said.
Ichung’wah further urged contractors to maintain high construction standards and ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timelines so that learners can begin benefiting from the new facilities without unnecessary delays.
Teachers and parents have welcomed the project, saying additional classrooms will help reduce overcrowding, improve classroom management and create a more comfortable learning atmosphere for pupils.
Once completed, the nine-classroom block is expected to strengthen the school’s ability to serve the expanding community in Kinoo Ward, while contributing to improved access to quality basic education.
