The tarmacking of the Maiini – John Kagai Road in Ting’ang’a Ward, Kiambu Town Constituency, has reached a critical construction stage, with contractors undertaking cement stabilization works, to prepare the foundation ahead of the laying of the asphalt surface.
The road project, which is expected to improve transport and spur economic growth in the area, is progressing steadily as engineers reinforce the road base by mixing quality murram with cement and water to create a durable foundation capable of withstanding heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing works, Kiambu Town Member of Parliament (MP), Machua Waithaka, said the project reflects the government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that meets the needs of residents, while supporting long-term development.
“The contractor has now reached the cement stabilization stage, which is one of the most important phases in road construction, because it guarantees a strong and durable foundation, before the asphalt is laid. We are committed to ensuring this road is completed to the highest standards, so that it serves our people for many years,” said Waithaka.
The Legislator noted that upon completion, the upgraded road will significantly improve connectivity within Ting’ang’a Ward, by easing the movement of people, goods and services, while reducing travel time and transport costs.
He observed that improved road infrastructure is a key driver of economic development, adding that the project will enhance access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential public services.
“This project is not just about building a road; it is about opening-up opportunities for our people. Better roads enhance safety, promote business, attract investment and improve the quality of life for residents. We remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering infrastructure that transforms lives and accelerates development across Kiambu Town Constituency,” the MP said.
Residents have welcomed the progress of the project, expressing optimism that the upgraded road will end years of transport challenges, particularly during the rainy season, when sections of the road become impassable.
The Maiini–John Kagai Road is among several road improvement projects currently underway in Kiambu Town Constituency, aimed at modernizing transport infrastructure, enhancing accessibility and supporting socio-economic growth.
Once completed, the road is expected to boost mobility, facilitate trade and strengthen connectivity within Ting’ang’a Ward and neighboring areas, further contributing to the Constituency’s development agenda.
