The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Makueni Constituency has appealed to the residents to register as voters in the area.
Making the appeal on Wednesday in his office, IEBC Assistant Election Officer (AEO) Nicolas Kalimi urged elders, chiefs and their assistants, opinion and elected leaders to sensitize the people in an to improve registration of voters that is low.
“We have only managed to register 592 voters since the exercise began in 29/09/2025. The turnout is low despite efforts to reach eligible voters,” said Kalimi while speaking to Kenya News Agency on Wednesday.
“I urge the opinion and elected leaders, chiefs and their assistants and elders to supplement IEBC efforts to create awareness among the people in order to improve the registration of voters in the constituency,” he added.
While saying there been 82 transfers have made from the constituency, he observed that for one to be registered, need to have a valid passport or an Identity card.
