Meru Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia has called on residents of Igembe region to maintain law, peace and order during the Christmas and New Year festive season.
The Governor was speaking on Friday at Maua Stadium, where he addressed residents and boda boda riders from Maua town and its environs.
He urged them to celebrate Christmas and new year eve responsibly and avoid engaging in activities that could disrupt peace and security in the area.
Governor M’Ethingia emphasized the important role played by boda boda operators in the local economy, noting that they are key partners in maintaining order, especially during the busy festive period.
He cautioned riders against reckless riding and substance abuse urging them to observe traffic rules and respect the law.
He further called on youth to embrace peaceful coexistence and shun violence, saying that sustained peace is essential in the region’s social and economic development.
The Governor assured residents that security agencies have put in place measures to ensure the safety of lives and property during the festive season.
“As we celebrate this festive season, let us remain united, respect the law and live peacefully with one another so that everyone can enjoy the holidays,” Governor M’Ethingia said.
