Learners at Mung’ala Secondary School in Machakos Town Constituency can now enjoy their meals in a better environment after they were handed a modern dining hall and kitchen.
The improved dining facilities were constructed and funded from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) kitty.
The project, commissioned on Friday, marks another milestone in efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure while easing congestion during meal times as well as improving the learning environment in public schools within the constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning, Machakos Town Member of Parliament Caleb Mule Mutiso said investment in education infrastructure remains a priority in the constituency’s development agenda, noting that quality facilities contribute significantly to learners’ academic performance and overall well-being.
“We are committed to transforming our schools by providing infrastructure that creates a conducive environment for learning. This dining hall is an investment in the future of our children and demonstrates our resolve to ensure every learner has access to quality facilities that support academic excellence,” said the legislator.
Mung’ala Secondary School Principal Madam Joyce Kyalo lauded the NG-CDF and the area Member of Parliament for responding to the school’s infrastructure needs, saying the new facility will improve students’ welfare, accommodate a larger number and provide a safe, spacious and dignified environment during meal times.
“This facility is a major achievement for our school community. It will enhance the welfare of our learners by providing adequate dining space while improving hygiene, order and efficiency during meal service, “she said.
Chief Guest and Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya commended the Machakos Town NG-CDF for prioritizing projects that directly impact learners, observing that investment in education remains one of the most effective ways of promoting sustainable national development.
“Quality education begins with quality learning environments. Leaders should continue investing in projects that improve the welfare of learners because education remains the foundation upon which communities and the nation build their future,” said Kawaya.
The commissioning ceremony was also attended by Yatta Member of Parliament Robert Basil. Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo, Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule, Members of the County Assembly and other government officials.
