A total of 111,053 candidates are sitting for both Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) in Laikipia that kicked off on Monday.
Speaking to KNA during the official opening of the examination container in Nanyuki,
Laikipia East Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Muli said that all arrangements were made for seamless examination period.
“We have done some logistics and other transport arrangements. We also deployed security officers, the container were officially opened at six o’clock for the distribution of the exams,” said Muli.
He said the exams kicked off smoothly across the county and at the same time revealing all measures were in place to curb exams malpractice.
In the county, number of candidates sitting for KPSEA and KJSEA are 75,820 and 35,233 respectively.
The candidates started with English language and composition for KPSEA and Mathematics and English language for KJSEA.
According to Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) a total of 1,130,669 will undertake KJSEA and 1,298,089 will do (KPSEA) this year.
Learners who are sitting for KPSEA will be the last cohort to mark the end of primary school education while those are in grade 9 and sitting for KJSEA exam will transition from junior school to senior school in January next year.
