Police officers from Mwala subcounty today donated food and nonfoods items to children at Mwiso rescue centre to celebrate the festive season.
Led by the subcounty police commander Ronald Kirui and the sub county director of criminal investigation Catherine Kinoti the officers said the gesture was aimed at expressing their love and generosity to the children.
The centre mainly hosts victims of defilement, teenage mothers and their children.
It also houses neglected and abandoned children.
“We decided to come and celebrate together with these children who are victims of crime in the spirit of Christmas which entails giving,” said Kirui.
He appealed to well-wishers to support the centre during the festive season.
The subcounty police commander also asked parents to take care of their children to prevent abuse.
”I ask parents to be close to their children and protect them against abuse as stipulated in the law,”noted Kirui.
He assured residents of security during this time of festivities and asked them to celebrate with moderation.
The subcounty police commander said police will enhance patrols across the subcounty and especially along the highways.
“We ask residents to celebrate within the law.As police we also wish residents a happy Christmas and a blessed 2023,”said Kirui.
Kinoti reiterated the commitment by police to curb sexual violence in the subcounty and assured victims of justice.
