By J, KNA

President William Ruto has directed the contractor handling the construction of the Kakamega County Level Six Teaching and Referral Hospital to complete the project within the next nine months.

The President announced that the national government will inject Sh1billion into the project to ensure the completion and full operationalization of the modern health facility.

He said the facility is expected to serve as a major referral centre for the entire Western Kenya region.

President Ruto said the completion of the hospital will significantly improve access to specialized medical services and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances.

“Residents will have no reason to travel to facilities such as Kenyatta National Hospital or Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to seek major medical attention once completed and operational,” he said.

He said the project will also boost medical training and research and assured residents that government will continue to partner with County Government to deliver essentials projects that uplift Kenyans.

“The people of Western Kenya deserve quality healthcare closer home. We will complete this hospital within the set timeframe and ensure it becomes a model of excellence in medical service delivery,” said the President.

The Head of State was accompanied by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and SMEs Wycliffe Oparanya among other leaders.
