Residents of Kajiado North Sub-County have joined other citizens in mourning former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga who passed on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in India while undergoing treatment.
Many are remembering the late Odinga who was aged 80 as a statesman, largely crediting him with the country’s flourishing democracy and national cohesion.
Speaking to KNA Monday during Mashujaa Day cerebrations, they expressed deep sorrow and condoled with Raila’s family and friends.
“Raila fought for justice, freedom, and democracy tirelessly without giving up. He inspired us citizens with his love for Kenya and made us realize the importance of always speaking up when we feel oppressed in any way,” Dennis Kamau eulogized.
Wycliff Omondi from Ngong also expressed his grief following the passing on of the former Premier whom he described as an icon.
“Raila’s legacy will forever be remembered. He always identified with ordinary Kenyans and ensured their interests are prioritized by the National Government. He also ensured unity prevailed, especially within his party; the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM),” Omondi added.
On her part, Joyce Mwikali concurred that Raila was a selfless leader saying he will be fondly remembered for largely contributing to the country’s development and democracy.
She urged Kenyans to maintain unity and ensure justice prevails to honor the vision that the departed leader had for the country.
The ODM party leader was buried on Sunday in Bondo, Siaya County, next to his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga with thousands of mourners from Kenya and beyond attending.
