President William Ruto has announced that the National Government will release Sh1.4 billion to fast-track the completion of the Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega County.
Speaking during his development tour of the region today, the President said the funds will be disbursed for the project to transform it into a modern sporting complex that meets international standards.
Ruto said the investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting sports and youth talent development across the country.
The President urged contractors to ensure quality workmanship and timely delivery.
He was accompanied by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli and Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa among other leaders.
Bukhungu Stadium, located in Kakamega town, is one of Kenya’s historic football grounds, originally built in the 1950s.
