Criminals and other gangs who have been terrorizing residents in Kisumu have been put on notice after the new security chief in the lakeside city took office.
The new Kisumu County Commissioner, Ramadhan Mabuzo, noted that the security organs have received numerous complaints from residents of degenerating security in the county and have instituted steps to henceforth end the decaying security in Kisumu.
“We are closing in on identifying criminals in the region; they are because hitherto the boda boda operators bore the huge brunt of being labeled the criminals, but not all the boda boda riders are bad elements,” pointed out Ramadhan, who appealed to the locals to partner with the security agencies and volunteer critical information, even as he gave a strong ultimatum that the security agencies will not allow the over 500,000 residents of Kisumu to be tormented by a small group of gangs.
The commissioner, however, expressed regret and deepest sympathy over the cruel killing of the son of former MP David Were even as he pledged thorough investigations into the case to bring the culprits to book and to deter future similar occurrences.
“Myself, together with my committee and the County Security team, are committed to ascertaining top security in Kisumu,” assured Mabuzo, who further pointed out that there are only two alternatives for the criminal planning to operate within Kisumu, which are either to reform or to prepare to be exterminated, adding that even God does not condone crime and injustice like that which was meted out on MP David Were’s son by those seeking quick financial gains through perpetrating criminal activities.
