Timothy Toroitich clinches the Marakwet West MP seat

Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich, an independent candidate clinched the Marakwet West parliamentary seat after garnering 24,563 votes.

Toroitich beat his closest rival, the incumbent MP William Kisang of UDA who polled 15,481 votes while in third place David Kiprono Sudi of The New Democrats Party got 227 votes.

Kisang conceded defeat to Kipchumba and congratulated the incoming Member of National Assembly

He also thanked the people of Marakwet West for giving him a chance to represent them in the National Assembly.

“I wish to give thanks to the people of Marakwet West for the opportunity they accorded me to represent them as their Member of National Assembly for the past 10 years. It has been a journey and I thank God for the blessings and achievements during my tenure,” Kisang said.

According to Marakwet West Sub County Returning officer, Joseph Lotugoi, total valid votes cast was 40,335 with rejected ballots being 206 and disputed votes being 12.
