Tusker FC staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Gor Mahia 3–2 in a pre-season friendly played at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, as both sides continued preparations amid the postponement of the League season.
The match, played over four 30-minute quarters, saw Gor Mahia take the lead in the 34th minute through Ben Stanley. Tusker responded shortly after the restart, with new striker Victor Mbaoma levelling the scores in the 47th minute.
Gor Mahia regained the advantage through Denis Omedi in the 64th minute, but Mbaoma struck again from the penalty spot in the 77th minute to make it 2–2.
Tusker completed the comeback in the final quarter when Eric Kapaito scored in the 99th minute, sealing a 3–2 victory for the Brewers.
The fixture provided both teams with valuable match practice after Football Kenya Federation postponed the scheduled start of the 2026/27 SportPesa Premier League following fresh court orders.
FKF had initially planned for the season to begin on September 19, but the federation halted the opening-round matches over legal uncertainty surrounding the competition.
The result also gives Tusker another victory over Gor Mahia in recent weeks, following their 3–1 FKF Super Cup triumph in August.
Tusker are also preparing for their CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Tanzanian side Singida Black stars after progressing to the second preliminary round.
