A Multi agency security team in Laikipia has launched an investigation after two minors were shot dead by armed bandits in Posta Muwarak, Laikipia North sub county in what is suspect to be a retaliatory attack.
According to police reports, the victims identified as Melisia Lemooli and Loeewa Lemooli, aged seven and 17 years respectively were grazing animals on Wednesday at the time of banditry attack. The sustained guns shoot wounds on the head and back.
“We heard a firearm shooting sound some three kilometers away, immediately officers from Posta police station and NPR rushed to the scene and established two minors were fatally shot,” police report stated
The retaliatory gunmen attack is believed to be from two rival communities, after a herdsman from Pokot was killed about a week ago in the same area.
The deceased were moved to Samburu county referral hospital morgue as they wait postmortem examination.
