Youth urged to register as voters

Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat has commended young people in the constituency for surpassing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) voter registration target, saying their participation demonstrated growing interest in shaping the country’s democratic process.

Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Moi’s Bridge Police Station in Uasin Gishu County, Kiplagat said more than 13,000 youths had registered as voters against a target of 10,000.

Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat addresses residents during the commissioning of the Moi’s Bridge Police Station in Soy Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.

“Our young people have demonstrated commitment to democracy by surpassing the IEBC voter registration target, and I commend them for taking an active role in shaping the future of our constituency and country,” he said.

The legislator further disclosed that about 25,000 young people in the constituency had recently acquired national identity cards and urged them to register as voters during the next mass voter registration exercise.

“If all those young people register as voters, Soy Constituency will have about 140,000 registered voters, which will greatly strengthen the voice of our people in national affairs,” Kiplagat added.

The legislator lauded the government for implementing key infrastructure projects in the constituency, including the expansion of the Eldoret-Leseru-Kitale road into a dual carriageway and the upgrading of several other roads.

He assured residents that his office would continue monitoring the implementation of all ongoing government projects to ensure they were completed on schedule and met the required standards.

Kiplagat thanked residents for supporting the government’s development agenda and reaffirmed his commitment to improving infrastructure, security and public service delivery across Soy Constituency.
