Molo residents urged to be vigilant on security matters

Molo Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Jackson Olechuta has urged residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially in light of increased cattle theft and recent murder incidents in various parts of Nakuru County.

Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Marioshoni trading center yesterday, Olechuta emphasized the importance of community members working closely with security agencies to ensure appropriate action is taken against those found culpable of criminal activities.

Olechuta highlighted the effectiveness of using technology in aiding security efforts, as it helps authorities to quickly identify and apprehend those involved.

For instance, when cattle theft incidents are reported, he explained that once a photo of the stolen cattle is obtained, it is shared with local community leaders or chiefs, who then assist in the search efforts through various online platforms.

The DCC expressed regret over the recent murders of an M-Pesa shop employee and two businessmen in Nakuru East and West Sub-Counties and a robbery attack in Ngata estate. While some suspects in connection with the incident have been arrested, others remain at large, and he therefore called on residents to support security agencies by voluntarily providing information to help address the security challenges.

Olechuta’s message underscores the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and security. By staying vigilant and cooperating with law enforcement agencies, residents can contribute to creating a safer environment for themselves and their neighbors.

Last week on Monday, the body of a 23-year-old lady operating an M-Pesa shop was discovered dead at Technology Farm.

The deceased, identified as Hannah Waithera, is said to have left the shop in the afternoon hours to deposit Sh250,000 in a bank but never returned.

Two businessmen in Bahati and Nakuru East sub-counties have lost their lives after they were gunned down by armed robbers.

The matters are under investigation by the respective Directorate of Criminal Investigation Offices (DCIO) in the affected sub-counties.
