Uasin Gishu explores agro-tourism partnership with Pearl River SEZ

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is seeking to strengthen investment and tourism opportunities through a partnership with the Pearl River Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a multibillion-shilling, privately owned industrial park located in Plateau, Kesses Sub-county.

County Department of Trade and Cooperatives hosted the Pearl River SEZ officials led by Project Manager Alex Hui, with discussions focusing on agro-tourism, sports tourism, and investment opportunities in the county.

During the courtesy visit, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Dr. Philip Chebunet, said the county remains committed to attracting strategic investors capable of driving economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.

Mr. Hui said the Special Economic Zone aims to position the county as a tourism destination with agriculture as a key pillar.

He noted that the delegation will visit the county in August and October for a seven-day assessment tour to explore opportunities in agro-tourism and sports development.

The project manager added that the investors are also exploring possible areas of collaboration that can support the county’s economic transformation agenda.

Currently, the Pearl River SEZ in Plateau hosts three operational companies dealing in renewable energy, reflecting the zone’s focus on green industrial investment and sustainable energy solutions.
